We unintentionally hushed our living room/kitchen a few years ago when we had it painted. It has taken a few years to put things back or add new things. It still is less looking.

Finally called 2 doctors’ office to set up appointments! On one I had to hold but I picked up the kitchen during that time. Both appointment made ✔️- they’ve been on my to-do lists for weeks!!

Minimal mum you may need to be careful and look at Cages face .....you should read Piaget theory how children's brains develop..you shaking your head then cage says yes..if not when he's older living on his own he may , I say develop into wanting to keep all his items and find it part with items due to his young years.. some children inventory may be different to want mum needs. Also girls organisation skills develop much earlier than boys.

I'm a checklist person for daily and weekly chores. I'm finding the Chore Wars apps helps with engaging the kids. I set it up to give a 'chore pass' on a random basis. The chore pass can be redeemed whenever they want to skip one chore. In the app they have a few assigned chores and the rest are on a first come basis. They have an entire week to finish the chores. That frees up my time to be able to work on decluttering.

The Trousers that have been ripped around the knee area (as all boys do) can be upcycled into shorts and let the kids run around one more summer until they grow out of it. Since he likes this pair of trousers so much.... I would have let him have them.

I wish I had drawer space for my knives and larger utensils. I literally only have three usable drawers and they are all full of things I use consistently. But, knife block, utensil holder and large cutting board are the only things on my counter.

I love this!!! So many minimalist parents seem to be almost too harsh with their kids stuff. Kids just collect weitd stuff and they will let go when they arr ready, we as parents just have to be patient. Recently my daughter brought home 4 rocks she calls her babies and wont let them go. I let her keep them of course but it seems so silly to me. However to her its special and she wants to keep them. I think its amazing you let them keep odd treasures like gum wrappers and prioritize their emotions over having an immaculate house.

There is "stuff" and there is STUFF. We tend to buy our children junk.. Children should be gifted books, tools, supplies and not toys. We trained our children to attached to items. Gifts are love in our world.

God, is she still doing that stupid laugh! Gets on your nerves after a very few minutes!

I just had an epiphany after listening to your explanation about the stress that magazines can cause....this is basically what Pinterest does for me. I love browsing all the different ideas, but it feels like having 100 different tabs open in my brain with ideas/projects that I will never realistically have the time to complete. It's totally FOMA, a time suck & a source of discontentment for me in this season....so, I think it's time to just delete it. Thanks Dawn for your encouragement! :)

I totally agree about cleaning and minimalism. The only thing and concern I have on this video is the use of possibility the same cloth to wipe the surfaces, from the counter to the toilet seat, lighting etc. I am conscious of the spread of bacteria all around. But in principle I believe in the practice of cleaning, tidying and minimalistic

Never heard of this ‘method’…. But isn’t this just how everyone deep cleans a room/ closet etc? How does one reorganize without taking everything out and going through it, I just thought that was standard…

Hi Dawn! Where would you put to be shredded material? I often get things I don't need but need to shred because of personal information. I'm unsure if it makes more sense to put them in time will tell, because theres no time limit on doing them, or in the To Do becasue something needs to be done to be them (shredding). what is your perspective on this? Thanks!

Sorry but it would really annoy me to have clothes that are all crumpled up in bins. Once they go into the work force they probably will neat to look neat and uncrumpled.

Oh my, Gage is an old soul. My dad is 89 now and he loves to save the syrup jars from Cracker Barrel. Drives me nuts but it's his house so...

I have been wanting to do this since I saw Dawn’s first video on this. However, I feel stuck. My home is very small and due to our accumulation of things (that I have been trying to get the courage and motivation to Declutter) I just don’t have the room to move everything to another space. Can anyone offer some advice? I can see my mental health being affected by the clutter and I just want a simple home.

I am that super attached kid recovering at 38 years old. Travel makes it worse because I try so hard to hold on to every memory. I had a cracker barrel syrup bottle too, not long ago. I am not a mother but your episode about doing missionary work in Tijuana with your kids helped me realize that you can be that wild travel soul and bring kids into that and its completely ok. My brother is an American living in Juarez with kids. Looks like you are raising a brave family. If it was normalized to be this kind of mom, I might have been one. Thank you for your open mind. Ill be hushing my house this weekend.

My mom once cleaned my stuff, and threw away some stones I played with every day... I'm almost 50 years old now, but we did not have a good relationship, like you have with your kids 😢 the wound is still there. I need to forgive her and collect some new stones.

I was forced to "hush" my refrigerator. The thermostat malfunctioned and for weeks everything would freeze, then one day nothing got cold. While waiting for the new one to be delivered, I had to empty everything. I was shocked how many products were unopened and up to 7 years past expiration (lemon juice, jams, sauces etc).(I live alone). I froze as much as I could but realized even the freezer had stuff well beyond saving. When the new fridge arrived, I had nothing extra to replace. I now look inside and actually see and know what's in there. 👍🤗🥳😋

You girls are taking about how to stop buying but all the clips of the store have me looking at things I’d love to have 😂

I do laundry every other day. Some days its only 1 load & some days 3 or 4 eg when doing bedding, towels coats, etc My poor washing machine is well used & loved.

We finally bought a house. So, as each room gets fixed so we can move belongings I’m totally doing this. The first room to be finished next week is our boys’s room. We have designated it for sleep, clothes, and some personal belongings. All toys will be in a playroom and a few for the toddler in our library/homeschool room.

I HAVE to have two sets of sheets for my bed. I hate seeing my bed unmade for the 2 hours it takes to wash them. I don’t know what it is about it that makes me crazy but I am more likely to wash my sheets if I can put a clean set on immediately after taking dirty sheets off. I DO, however, wait for at least an hour to make my bed.

Nope...I hate it when you do this! Your kitchen, especially, was beautiful before you hushed it. Each and everyone unto his own, but I really don't appreciate the "hushing" videos. And, where I live, Legos are so unbelievably expensive, that no one would ever dream of throwing out as much as one block or piece.

I had no idea that the reason I could keep on top of laundry these days was because I have such simple wardrobe. I used to get so behind. Now I don't, and it's so much less stressful.

Besides, the truth is that people don't need old things. Try to give away a good tv that's perfect but not the last model or camping gear that's perfectly good, clean and was only used for a year. No takers. Same with kitchenware. The only people who need old things are hoarders seemingly..they take anything if it's free or cheap. To just hoard
